Every year, International Homeless Animals Days aims to build awareness and education to pet owners on the predicament that is abandoned animals and what we can do as a community to help alleviate this ever growing issue.

Each day in the US, animals are surrendered to kennels. Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, with only a portion of these animals finding a forever home. These organisations are already at capacity and are desperate to raise awareness of responsible pet ownership and the importance of neutering domestic animals.

If you are looking to add a new member to the family, why not consider visiting these fabulous organisations and give a second chance to our fury friends who are waiting to find their forever home. Don’t discount the older pups, they are full of love and would want nothing more than a nurturing family to share their golden years.

Senior dogs would be a wonderful addition to your family. Likely to have learnt basic obedience already, they would already be housebroken therefore training would be less demanding on your time. Older dogs would have already gone through “teething” so your valued possessions are at less risk of being dinner! Also, in there older years, they would be more settled and would be more than happy to lie by your feet as opposed to the constant entertainment and play time a new pup requires.

Whether you decide to bring a puppy or senior dog into your family, choose to foster and give these dogs a second chance at a new life!
